1. Background

  • Project Overview:
At Adver Marketing, we are committed to adhering to strict compliance standards and legal requirements in all our operations. This case study highlights a real-world example of how we successfully terminated services of a client company based on our compliance policies to ensure our operations continue to meet the highest standards of compliance.

  • Client Relationship Context:
In Apr 2024, Adver Marketing engaged with an oversea chemical company to provide digital marketing services. The company’s products were in the chemical sector, and the marketing efforts were focused on expanding their business presence in new markets.

2. Compliance Review and Issue Identification

Initial Review:

At the beginning of our engagement, we conducted an initial compliance review of the client’s business and products. At that time, no significant compliance issues were identified. Advertising platforms, such as Google, allowed paid Google Ads of the product, and there were no obvious public reports or warnings indicating any potential concerns of the product.

Emerging Concerns:

However, as the engagement progressed and the regulatory environment evolved, we identified potential compliance risks related to some of the client’s products. This led us to reassess the situation and conduct a more thorough compliance review.

3. Decision and Actions Taken

Enforcing Our Compliance Policy:

Upon identifying potential compliance concerns related to the client’s products, we immediately updated our internal compliance policy to address these risks. As part of this process, we decided to terminate all services provided to the client on Sep 2024. The following actions were taken to ensure full compliance:

  • Closed the company’s website immediately.
  • Ceased all website-related technical support services immediately.
  • Deactivated the client’s domain registration.
  • Notified the third-party service provider of our concerns and requested they immediately cease all activities and works.
  • Retained all relevant records of our engagement for future compliance reviews.

Compliance Policy Implementation:

This case illustrates our commitment to promptly updating our compliance practices when risks are identified. By swiftly adjusting our policies and taking immediate action, we were able to prevent any potential legal or reputational issues.

4. Outcome and Impact

Impact on Our Business:

This case underscores the effectiveness of our compliance framework. By proactively terminating services for the client, we ensured that our business remained legally compliant and transparent, while also maintaining the trust of our stakeholders.”

Building Trust with Clients and Partners:

Compliance is at the heart of our operations. It safeguards not only our business interests but also strengthens the trust we have with our clients and partners. We will continue to refine our compliance policies to ensure that every project we undertake meets the highest legal and ethical standards.

5. Looking Ahead

Future Compliance Strategy:

At Adver Marketing, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards any potential misuse of our services. In the future, if we detect any form of abuse, we will take the strictest actions without hesitation. In this case, due to concerns over potential risks, we closed the client’s website. However, if Adver Marketing discovers clear evidence of misuse or potential illegal activity, we will not only act swiftly to terminate services but will also immediately report the case to the relevant law enforcement authorities. We remain fully committed to ensuring that every client and partner adheres to the highest legal and ethical standards.
